Not Even, the Mouse: A Christmas Story
Published in Paperback by New England Press (November, 1982)
Authors: Thomas J. Riley and Marita Brokensha
Average review score:

Noteven...A Holiday Tradition
This is a cute little story about a mouse who is abandoned by his mouse family, including his mother. Noteven is an odd little mouse...different from his brothers and sisters. After being left alone by his family, Noteven decides that it is his fate to become caretaker of the house. Being that the house is not occupied by anyone, it's easy to maintain, although Noteven is a very particular mouse. Sometime around Christmas, a family arrives at the house and the quiet neat little house becomes loud and messy. Noteven continues to clean the house but it is a bit harder for him with the humans around. While Noteven wishes that the family would notice that he was there, he realizes that they are humans after all and probably not ready to admit that a mouse is taking care of their house. One night after his chores are done, Noteven returns to his hole and discovers that the sock he had been using for his bed was missing. Disappointed, he tries to get some sleep anyway. He can't sleep, however, because the family is making too much noise. Noteven decides to find out what all the noise is about and sneaks from his hole to the living room where the family is singing and laughing. As Noteven is counting the people and the stockings hung by the chimney, he discovers there is an extra stocking. Could it be his? If you can find this book I reccomend it highly. I bought this story when it was published in 1982 and my oldest child was 4. He is now 22 and my youngest is 14. We all still enjoy reading and hearing the story of Noteven. It's a Christmas Eve tradition in our home. Make this heart-warming story part of your holiday tradition.

Novel Talking
Published in Paperback by Xlibris Corporation (22 January, 2001)
Author: Michael H., Ph.D. Riley
Average review score:

A feast of wonderful language
This book is a joy to read. An account of a year in the woods, after the example of Thoreau, it is a feast of wonderful language. Riley is an artist with words and knows how to make a sentence sing. He plays on them endlessly, like the Euphuists, and obviously has fun with his spining out of a story. There's a lot of homespun wisdom here, a sincere voice and a powerful set of alternative views of our culture. Buy it, read it, and get one for a friend.

O'Riley's Castle

I Loved It!
This was an excellent book. Much along the lines of Harry Potter. I am a girl and liked the part where Matt helps the beautiful princess, but I think boys will like all the action with the evil knight and the three-headed dragon. Some blood to. The entire book was great!

Only My Mouth Is Smiling is a GREAT book!
Jocelyn Riley is an incredible author and her talent really shines through in this novel. This book is about Merle and her brother and sister while their mentally-ill mother drags them away from their home in Chicago to suburban Wisconsin. I totally fell in love with this book and it's a great read for anyone!

A wonderful insite to the mind
I'm a HUGE fan of Baum.Always have been. Ever since I was a kid. Reading Baum in published order is an ever ongoing project with me. Now I'm not one who wants to take apart the wonderful stories and put all the elements into little boxes and find out what they are make of, but this book does something that is just the opposite. It takes the stories and looks at them in the order in which they were written! This book is a wonderful look at the "periods" in the Baum Canon. This is a great look at how say something like the Life and Adventures of Santa Clause and Queen XiXi of IX relate to each other. Great writing and research makes this book a MUST for any Baum collector.

Great drawings but limited explanations
The book shows exceptional stratigical drawing from a selection of famous achitects. Although some explanations about the projects is short, this book is great for architectural students because it simply provokes thought.

Great Book for everyday use
This book was perfect for me. I am constantly on the road, and taking clients to dinner. Since using THE POCKET PERSONAL TRAINER, I have begun to lose inches, and pounds. I am not really dieting, but changing my eating habits. I did not think that it was possible! This book covers everything from fast food dining to grocery shopping. It is by far the best, and easiest book that I have ever read (referenced) to lose weight. I bought it because a friend recommended it to me, and I take it everywhere. I give it the highest rating.
